HIV & Development

This course aims to equip participants with the tools to examine some of the social issues linked to HIV, in particular the links between the impact of the HIV epidemic and development outcomes; issues related to antiretroviral treatment including the social and economic impact of treatment; mainstreaming of HIV in development and the social constructs of gender, identity and sexuality which affect the response to the epidemic. Students will be supported to develop skills in integrating needs around HIV prevention, care and support into development intitiatives. The module has one week of intensive class based work and four weeks of web-based learning, two before and two after the intensive week.
